Kia Australia has recalled 4,817 units of the 2025-2026 K4 Hatch over a seat belt assembly issue. The rear centre seat belt anchor buckle may not have been put together correctly during production, which means it might not latch or work properly when you need it most.
What's the Problem?
The buckle for the rear middle seat belt may have been assembled incorrectly at the factory. In a collision, a seat belt that doesn't latch properly offers little to no protection. Kia is clear about the risk: if the belt fails during an accident, it could lead to serious injury or worse.

What You Should Do
If you own a 2025-2026 Kia K4 Hatch, Kia Australia will be reaching out to affected owners directly. You don't need to wait for the call though. Book an appointment with your nearest Kia dealer and they'll inspect the rear centre seat belt buckle and replace it if needed. The work is completely free.
In the meantime, avoid using the rear middle seat until the buckle has been checked. It's a simple precaution, but it matters.
