Side-on payload, overhang and GVM checks for utes and light trucks
Vehicles are pulled live from the CarSorted database of Australian utes and light trucks, using each model's real GVM, kerb weight, rated payload, GCM, braked-towing and tray-length figures. Total load is pallet quantity multiplied by weight per pallet, checked against the vehicle's available payload (manufacturer-rated where published, otherwise GVM minus kerb weight). Tray length used is pallet quantity multiplied by the pallet footprint length, checked against the tray length.
You can also enter your own numbers. Pick Custom vehicle to type a GVM, GCM, payload, kerb weight and tray size for a ute not in our list or one with an aftermarket tray or canopy, and pick the Custom load type to set an exact length, width, height and weight instead of a standard pallet. The top-down width panel checks the load against the tray's usable width between the wheel arches and flags anything too wide to sit flat.
Headboard height and wheel size are not held per-variant in the database, so the cab-visibility check and the ride height in the side view use a sensible estimate based on the body style. Everything driving the payload, GVM, GCM, overhang and width checks is the vehicle's own data.
Figures are indicative planning guidance only. Confirm payload, GVM, GCM and load-restraint requirements with the manufacturer and the National Transport Commission Load Restraint Guide before loading.
TOO WIDE — load is 65 mm wider than the usable tray; it can't sit flat between the arches.
1 × 300 kg vs payload limit 790 kg (est. GVM−kerb)
285 mm of deck remaining
kerb 2,710 kg + tray load 300 kg
laden 3,010 kg + trailer 0 kg
GCM not published — braked towing 2,500 kg.
