The MY18 Audi SQ5 3.0 TFSI was the first petrol SQ5 sold in Australia, replacing the twin-turbo diesel of the 8R car when the FY-generation Q5 arrived. Audi Australia's February 2018 specification guide lists a 2,995cc turbocharged V6 petrol with direct injection and Audi valvelift system making 260kW between 5,400 and 6,400rpm and 500Nm from 1,370rpm, sent through an eight-speed tiptronic automatic and quattro all-wheel drive for a claimed 5.4 seconds to 100km/h and a 250km/h top speed. Combined consumption is 8.7L/100km with 200g/km of CO2 on ADR 81/02, quoted on 21-inch wheels, and unladen weight is 1,945kg on the 92/21/EEC basis that includes a 75kg driver. Braked towing is 2,000kg with a 200kg maximum download. The standard list is unusually long for the era: adaptive damper control, 21-inch Audi Sport alloys on 255/40 tyres, red brake calipers, 360-degree cameras, adaptive cruise with Stop&Go and traffic jam assist, active lane assist, side assist, rear cross traffic assist, exit warning, park assist, turn assist, Audi pre-sense city with autonomous emergency braking and pedestrian detection, LED headlights with dynamic rear indicators, a 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit, MMI navigation plus with an 8.3-inch display, DAB+ and heated Nappa leather sport seats. Air suspension, the quattro sport differential, the panoramic sunroof and the Technik package with Matrix LED headlights, a head-up display and the 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen 3D system were all options. This model year is no longer sold new in Australia.

The MY23 Audi SQ5 TDI was the last of the FY-generation SQ5 in Australia, and by this point the fast Q5 had gone back to diesel with 48-volt mild-hybrid help. Audi Australia's August 2022 specification guide lists a 2,967cc turbocharged V6 diesel with EPC and 48V MHEV technology making 251kW between 3,800 and 3,950rpm and 700Nm from 1,750rpm, driving all four wheels through an eight-speed tiptronic for a claimed 5.1 seconds to 100km/h and a 250km/h top speed. Combined consumption is 7.0L/100km with 185g/km of CO2 on ADR 81/02, quoted on 21-inch wheels, from a 70-litre tank, and it weighs 2,085kg unladen on the 92/21/EEC basis that includes a 75kg driver. It tows 2,000kg braked with a 200kg download. The standard list is close to complete: Matrix LED headlights with a washer system and dynamic indicators, a panoramic sunroof, red brake calipers, 21-inch Audi Sport alloys, S sport suspension with adaptive dampers, a head-up display, the 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit plus, MMI navigation plus on a 10.1-inch touchscreen, a 19-speaker 755-watt Bang & Olufsen 3D system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, heated Nappa leather sport seats, three-zone climate and the full Audi pre-sense assistance suite with adaptive cruise, traffic jam assist, side assist, rear cross traffic assist, exit warning and turn assist. Air suspension, the sport differential, ventilated seats, massage seats and OLED rear lights were the remaining options. The guide carries a front-cover warning that some equipment was unavailable to order at the time because of global component shortages. This model year is no longer sold new in Australia.

The MY17 Audi SQ5 plus was the run-out flagship of the 8R-generation SQ5, adding 10kW and 50Nm over the standard car for 250kW at 4,100-4,300rpm and 700Nm from 1,500rpm out of the same 2,967cc twin-turbo V6 diesel. Audi Australia's November 2016 specification guide claims the same 5.1-second 0-100km/h time and 250km/h top speed, and the same 6.8L/100km and 180g/km ADR 81/02 figures on 20-inch wheels, with a 2,075kg unladen weight on the EC basis that includes a 75kg driver. What separates the plus is hardware rather than paperwork: the quattro sport differential with active torque vectoring, red brake calipers, quad tailpipes in a dual-branch design, the black high-gloss exterior styling package with gloss black mirror housings and diffuser, a fine Nappa leather design package with diamond stitching, and the Assistance package with adaptive cruise control, Audi pre sense front with autonomous emergency braking and Audi side assist all fitted as standard rather than optional. Audi published no dimensions, boot volume or fuel tank capacity in this document. This model year is no longer sold new in Australia.
