The Hyundai Tiburon V6 with the 6-speed manual was the driver-focused version of Hyundai Australia's GK-generation sports coupe. Hyundai's own 2006 specification sheet lists a 2.7-litre V6 making 123kW at 6000rpm and 245Nm at 4000rpm, with a close-ratio 6-speed manual gearbox and a 1369kg tare mass. Combined fuel use on the ADR81/01 cycle was 9.7L/100km. Standard equipment included leather-and-cloth trim, a leather steering wheel and gear knob, cruise control, keyless entry with an alarm and 17-inch alloy wheels -- but no side or curtain airbags, stability control, Bluetooth or reversing camera, all notably absent from Hyundai's own equipment list for this era.

The Hyundai Tiburon V6 with the 4-speed Selectronic automatic offered the same 2.7-litre V6 (123kW/245Nm) as the manual, with an adaptive, sequential clutchless auto-shift mode Hyundai branded 'HiVec'. Hyundai's own 2006 AU specification sheet lists a 1380kg tare mass (11kg heavier than the manual) and marginally better combined fuel economy at 9.5L/100km on the ADR81/01 cycle. Equipment was identical to the manual: leather-and-cloth trim, cruise control, keyless entry with alarm and 17-inch alloys, again without side/curtain airbags, stability control or Bluetooth.
