The Model S Long Range was Tesla's Australian flagship sedan in 2019, and the Green Vehicle Guide certifies it at 713 km of range and 163 Wh/km of energy consumption, which was the longest certified range of any car on sale in Australia at the time. It is a four-door, five-seat liftback measuring 4,979 mm long on a 2,960 mm wheelbase, with adaptive air suspension giving 116 to 160 mm of ground clearance and 894 litres of combined storage across the front trunk, the rear trunk and the 60/40 folding rear seats. Tesla Australia listed a 17-inch capacitive touchscreen, satellite navigation with real-time traffic, automatic keyless entry, Wi-Fi and cellular connectivity, mobile app remote control, retracting door handles, twelve-way power heated front seats with memory and driver profiles, HEPA cabin air filtration, an eleven-speaker premium audio system, heated seats throughout the cabin and a heated steering wheel. Safety runs to six airbags, collision avoidance with automatic emergency braking, electronic stability and traction control, four-wheel antilock disc brakes with an electronic park brake, and three second-row child-seat attachments. Tesla covered the battery and drive unit for eight years with unlimited kilometres.
Configure the Long Range (SA3EB)The 2020 Tesla Model S Long Range Plus (SA3EB) is the Long Range Plus version of Tesla's Model S electric large sedan in its final Australian-specification form, sold new in Australia and no longer available new. It uses Tesla's Dual Motor all-wheel drive with a single-speed transmission and adaptive air suspension. Tesla Australia quoted 0-100km/h in 3.8 seconds. Tesla Australia quoted 722 km of range on the NEDC cycle, and the Green Vehicle Guide lists 167 Wh/km. Figures come from Tesla Australia's own pages and the Green Vehicle Guide; Tesla published no Australian dimensions or labelled kerb weight for this car, so those are left blank rather than estimated.
Configure the Long Range Plus (SA3EB)The Model S 75 kWh Dual Motor was the entry point to Tesla's all-wheel-drive sedan range in Australia from 2016, and the Green Vehicle Guide certifies it at 490 km of range and 186 Wh/km. Mechanically and dimensionally it is the same car as the later Long Range: 4,979 mm long, a 2,960 mm wheelbase, air suspension delivering 116 to 160 mm of clearance, and 894 litres of storage across the front trunk, rear trunk and folding rear seats. What separates the 2018-era car from the 2019 one is the options structure. On Tesla Australia's 2018 page, HEPA filtration, the eleven-speaker premium sound system, heated rear seats and the heated steering wheel all sat under Premium Upgrades rather than standard equipment, so a base 75D left the showroom with a 17-inch touchscreen, navigation, keyless entry, twelve-way power heated front seats with memory, a reversing camera, GPS-enabled HomeLink, six airbags and dual-motor all-wheel drive, and not much else beyond that.
Configure the 75 kWh Dual MotorThe 2020 Tesla Model S Performance (SA3EP) is the Performance version of Tesla's Model S electric large sedan in its final Australian-specification form, sold new in Australia and no longer available new. It uses Tesla's Dual Motor all-wheel drive with a single-speed transmission and adaptive air suspension. Tesla Australia quoted 704 km of range on the NEDC cycle, and the Green Vehicle Guide lists 172 Wh/km. Tesla quoted 0-100km/h in as little as 2.5 seconds for this grade, but its configurator tied that time to the optional Ludicrous Mode, so no base figure is shown here.
