CarSorted CoDriver help

Anything about researching a new car in Australia. For example:

• Price and running costs: "What does the RAV4 Hybrid cost to run each year?"
• Towing: "Can a Ranger XLT tow a 3,000 kg caravan with four people on board?"
• Space and seats: "Which seven-seat hybrids have the biggest boot?"
• Safety: "What safety rating does it have?"
• Comparisons: "Kona Electric or MG4 for a 60 km daily commute?"
• Offers, luxury car tax and novated leasing: "Is this car over the luxury car tax threshold?"
• Whether something is on sale yet, and our guides, tools, recalls and news on a topic.

The more it knows about you, the closer the answer. Tell it any of these:

• Your budget, and whether that is drive-away or before on-road costs
• Your state or territory
• How you'll use it: city, highway, school run, touring, work
• How many seats you need
• Whether you tow, and roughly what
• The fuel type you want: petrol, diesel, hybrid, plug-in hybrid or electric
• The models you're already considering

You can always refine. Follow up with "cheaper", "only hybrids" or "what about the Sportage?" and it keeps the conversation going. If it isn't sure what you mean, it will ask one short question back.

CoDriver answers only from sources we can stand behind:

• Our own car rows, the same data behind every car and comparison page on CarSorted (see our methodology and data sources)
• The makers' Australian documents: price lists, spec sheets and brochures
• ANCAP, for safety ratings
• The Green Vehicle Guide, for fuel use, energy use and emissions
• The vehicle recalls register, for recalls

Every figure in an answer comes from one of those sources. When we do not hold a figure, the answer says "No data" rather than guessing.

• Find listings or used cars for sale, or check a dealer's stock
• Judge the mechanical condition of a particular car
• Give legal, financial, tax or other professional advice
• Answer questions that aren't about cars
• Claim to have driven a car. It hasn't driven anything, and it won't pretend it has

• The question is outside what it covers (see above)
• We don't hold that car, or that figure, yet. It will say so rather than make something up
• The question could mean very different cars or grades, so it asks you to narrow it down
• You've used your free questions, or CoDriver is resting for the day. Our guides, tools and comparisons are always there in the meantime

Tap the thumbs down under the answer. It tells us which kind of answer missed, without sending your question text. If a figure on a car page looks wrong, use the "Report incorrect data" link on that page, or email support@carsorted.ai with the car and what you expected. We check every report against the maker's documents.

Before you rely on a figure, check it with the manufacturer, the dealer or the official document.

• We keep anonymous records of questions to improve the service: the topic, the page it was asked on and whether it was answered.
• The question text is kept for 30 days, then deleted. Only anonymous counts remain after that.
• No account identity is attached to those records, whether or not you are signed in.
• Questions are sent to our AI service provider to be answered.
• Please don't type sensitive information: no names, addresses, phone numbers, licence or financial details.

If you are signed in, your CoDriver conversations are saved to your account so you can pick one up again from Recents in the CoDriver panel or in your account. They stay until you remove them or delete your account. If you are not signed in, nothing is saved: the conversation lasts as long as the page is open.

Everyone gets 5 free questions. After that, sign in (it's free) for 15 questions a day, reset at midnight Sydney time.

• Verify important details with the manufacturer, the dealer or the official document before you decide.
• Answers are general information, not advice.
