Zeekr 7X Review (2026): The Chinese EV That Finally Feels Premium
Written by Uzzi · 23 May 2026
Zeekr arrived in Australia almost from nowhere and the sales charts went vertical, brand volume up nearly tenfold in a year. The car doing most of the heavy lifting is the Zeekr 7X, a mid-size electric SUV that does something most Chinese EVs still cannot: it feels genuinely premium, not just well equipped for the money.

How much is it?
| Variant | Battery / Range | RRP |
|---|---|---|
| 7X RWD | 75kWh / 480km | $57,900 |
| 7X Long Range RWD | 100kWh / 615km | $63,900 |
| 7X Performance AWD | 100kWh / 543km | $72,900 |
Every version undercuts the equivalent Tesla Model Y while bringing more standard kit. The Long Range RWD is the sweet spot: 615km of range for $63,900.
Range and performance
The headline is that 615km Long Range figure, among the best in the class and well clear of the base Model Y. The base 7X RWD still manages a healthy 480km from its 75kWh battery. If you want pace, the Performance AWD musters 475kW and a 3.8-second 0-100km/h, supercar territory for a family SUV. For most buyers the single-motor RWD is plenty, with a relaxed 6.0-second sprint.
Inside
This is where the 7X earns its money. The cabin materials, screen quality and overall fit feel a class above the price, closer to an Audi or a Genesis than the budget-Chinese reputation. There is a 539-litre boot, a big central touchscreen, and a long list of standard luxuries. It is the first Chinese EV that does not feel like it is apologising for its badge.
Safety and ownership
The 7X holds a five-star ANCAP rating with the full active-safety suite. Zeekr covers it with a five-year warranty and a separate battery warranty. As with most new EVs, the long-term resale picture is still forming, which is the main thing to weigh against the strong purchase value.
The verdict
The Zeekr 7X is the most convincing premium electric SUV to come out of China so far. It undercuts the Model Y, beats it on equipment and cabin quality, and matches it on range. The Tesla still wins on charging network and resale, but on the car itself the 7X is the more impressive object. If you want a premium EV experience without the premium-brand price, this is the one to drive.
