The 2024 Kia Niro S HEV is the entry hybrid in the second-generation Niro range as Kia Australia's MY24 mechanical and feature list specified it. A 1,580cc 1.6-litre SmartStream GDI four making 77.2kW at 5,700rpm and 144Nm at 4,000rpm works with a 32kW/170Nm transmission-mounted electric motor and a 1.32kWh lithium-ion polymer battery for 104kW combined, driving the front wheels through a six-speed dual-clutch automatic. Kia certifies 4.0L/100km combined and 91g/km CO2, with 0-100km/h in about 10.4 seconds. The S runs 16-inch alloys on 205/60R16, a steel temporary spare, halogen projection headlights, cloth and artificial-leather trim, an eight-way powered driver's seat with two-way powered lumbar, dual-zone climate control, a 4.2-inch cluster with an 8-inch touchscreen and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Standard safety includes AEB with car, pedestrian, cyclist and junction-turning function, lane keeping and lane following assist, blind-spot collision avoidance with rear cross-traffic avoidance, safe exit warning, intelligent speed limit assist, driver attention alert and seven airbags including a front centre bag.

The 2024 Kia Niro S EV is the entry electric Niro in Kia Australia's MY24 sheet: a 150kW/255Nm front-mounted permanent-magnet synchronous motor and a 64.8kWh lithium-ion polymer battery under the floor, good for 460km WLTP at 162Wh/km and 0-100km/h in about 7.8 seconds. Even the S grade gets the 10.25-inch digital cluster and 10.25-inch touchscreen with satellite navigation, Kia Connect and AI voice commands, a smart key with push-button start, vehicle-to-load with an interior socket, i-Pedal one-pedal driving, paddle-controlled regeneration, four drive modes and rain-sensing wipers. Cargo space is 475 litres seats-up, 50 more than the hybrid.
