2026 Cupra Tavascan V Priced for Australia: New Base EV From $55,490, Full MY26 Lineup Locked In
Cupra Australia opens the MY26 Tavascan range with a new entry V grade at $55,490 before on-roads, $5,500 below the old base car. V uses a 140kW rear motor, 58kWh LFP battery and 414km WLTP range, with DC fast-charging capped at 105kW. Endurance shifts up to $66,490 (77kWh, 210kW RWD, 520km WLTP, 135kW DC) and dual-motor VZ nudges to $75,490 (250kW/545Nm AWD, 509km, 5.5sec 0 to 100). Every MY26 gains a 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit driver display, replacing the 5.3-inch unit, and physical steering wheel buttons in place of the older haptic controls. Endurance also picks up launch control and the previously optional Interior Package as standard. First deliveries in late August 2026. Four-star ANCAP from the 2025 assessment carries across, valid until December 2030, held back by Australia's spec missing the intelligent speed assist that Euro cars get. Five-year unlimited-km vehicle warranty and eight-year/160,000km battery cover with a 70 per cent capacity guarantee. Undercuts a Tesla Model Y RWD by around $3,400 on list.
2026 Toyota LandCruiser 300 Performance Hybrid Priced for Australia: GR Sport From $156,060, 341kW i-FORCE MAX Lands Mid-Year
Toyota Australia locks in local pricing on the first-ever petrol-electric LandCruiser 300 Series. GR Sport Performance Hybrid $156,060 before on-roads, Sahara ZX Performance Hybrid $156,810, both $8,900 above their 3.3-litre V6 diesel equivalents. i-FORCE MAX pairs a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol with a single electric motor between the engine and 10-speed automatic and a 1.8kWh nickel-metal-hydride battery under the rear cargo area. Combined system output is 341kW/790Nm, up 114kW and 90Nm on the 3.3L diesel V6, making the hybrid the most powerful LandCruiser Toyota has ever sold in Australia. Braked tow rating retained at 3,500kg, five-seat only, GR Sport keeps three individual diff locks (front, centre, rear). Steering swaps to electric assist. On sale mid-2026, first customer deliveries in July and August through metropolitan Toyota dealers. Five-year unlimited-km vehicle warranty, 10-year traction-battery warranty when serviced in the Toyota network, $450 capped-price servicing to 100,000km. ANCAP five-star from the 2022 300 Series result carries across.
Skoda Scala Axed in Australia: MY26 Stock Is the Last of the Czech Hatch
Skoda Australia has confirmed the Scala will not carry into MY27, so remaining MY26 stock is the last shot at a new Czech-built small hatch here. The 85TSI Select stays at $33,990 driveaway with an 85kW 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo, 5.4 L/100km and a 10.1-second 0 to 100km/h. The 110TSI Monte Carlo holds at $45,990 driveaway with a 110kW 1.5-litre turbo, 5.2 L/100km and an 8.2-second sprint. Both are seven-speed DSG and front-wheel drive. Just 59 Scalas were registered YTD 2026, with two units in June alone, down 88 per cent for the month and 22.4 per cent for the year. Rivals in the small hatch bracket ran much stronger: Toyota Corolla 7,314, Kia K4 4,467 (up 67.7 per cent) and Mazda 3 4,080. The smaller Skoda Fabia continues into MY27, as do the Kamiq, Karoq, Kodiaq, Octavia and Superb, with the Elroq and Enyaq EVs incoming. Five-star ANCAP from 2019 still applies to Australian cars sold from February 2021 (97/87/81/76 pillar scores). Skoda's seven-year warranty and capped-price servicing carry over on the run-out cars.
