The 2027 Volvo EX90 Plus Single Motor is the new entry point to Volvo's seven-seat electric flagship at $106,990 before on-road costs, $18,000 below the Plus Twin Motor. It swaps twin-motor all-wheel drive for a single 245kW/480Nm rear motor and a smaller 92kWh battery, giving a 479km WLTP range and 0-100km/h in 6.8 seconds. Equipment mirrors the Plus Twin Motor (14.5-inch touchscreen, four-zone climate, heated front seats, 20-inch wheels, 14-speaker audio); the main trade-off is a 1500kg braked tow rating. The sub-$120,000 price positions it under the incoming electric-car Luxury Car Tax threshold due from July 2027. Australian deliveries from September-October 2026.

The 2026 Volvo EX90 Plus Twin Motor is a premium seven-seat electric SUV that suits families wanting upmarket practicality with zero-emission driving, offering a substantial 580km driving range and 2500kg towing capacity. Its standout strength is the combination of dual-motor all-wheel-drive performance (300kW, 770Nm) with genuine seven-seat comfort and a five-star ANCAP safety rating-rare in this segment. One thing to consider: at 2858kg, it's a substantial vehicle, so check your garage space and driveway capabilities, though the low annual running costs of around $1902 offset the premium positioning.

The 2026 Volvo EX90 Ultra Twin Motor is a premium seven-seat electric SUV that suits families wanting safety and technology with genuine towing capability-its 2500kg capacity and 570km range make it practical for Australian road trips. Its standout strength is the combination of 380kW power, 910Nm torque, AWD handling, and 5-star ANCAP safety, all backed by a five-year warranty and modest running costs around $1902 annually. One consideration: with a 2880kg kerb weight, the performance SUV is on the heavier side, which may impact ride comfort on rougher outback roads compared to lighter alternatives.

2027 Volvo EX90 Single Motor Priced for Australia: $106,990 Base Grade Ducks Under the Incoming EV Luxury Car Tax Threshold

Volvo adds a rear-drive entry to its seven-seat electric flagship. The EX90 Plus Single Motor is $106,990 before on-roads, $18,000 cheaper than the Plus Twin Motor ($124,990) and $28,000 under the Ultra Twin Motor Performance ($134,990). It deletes the front motor for a single 245kW/480Nm rear unit (rear-wheel drive), swaps the 106kWh battery for a smaller 92kWh pack, and drops WLTP range to 479km (from 521km), 0-100km/h to 6.8s (from 5.5s) and braked towing to 1500kg (from 2200kg), though the smaller battery DC charges 10-80% two minutes quicker at 22 minutes. Equipment mirrors the Plus Twin Motor (14.5-inch touchscreen, four-zone climate, heated front seats, 20-inch wheels, 14-speaker audio). The $106,990 price slots under the new $120,000 electric-car Luxury Car Tax threshold due from 1 July 2027 (up from $91,661), making it LCT-free from then while the twin-motors stay taxed. MY27 also deletes the EX90's roof LiDAR. On sale now, Australian deliveries September-October 2026.
