BYD Atto 3 EVO Opens for Registration in Australia: Bigger Battery and 800V Fast Charging Reportedly on the Way
BYD Australia has quietly opened a registration-of-interest page for a heavily updated Atto 3 EVO, the biggest change yet to its best-selling EV. BYD itself confirms only the headlines, a bigger battery, faster charging, longer range, a new 15.6-inch infotainment screen, a larger digital driver's display and a gear selector moved to the steering column, with Australian specs, colours and features 'to be confirmed'. Australian media reports point to a jump to an 800V e-Platform 3.0 with DC fast charging up to about 220kW (roughly 10 to 80 percent in 25 minutes), a larger 74.8kWh Blade LFP battery, up to about 510km WLTP range, a rear-wheel-drive version making around 230kW/380Nm for a 0-100 of about 5.5 seconds, and an all-wheel-drive Performance flagship around 330kW, though none of those figures are confirmed for the local car yet. Pricing has not been announced; the current Atto 3 opens at $39,990 before on-roads, and the bigger battery plus 800V hardware should push the EVO higher, with early commentary pointing at the low-to-mid $50,000s for the rear-drive version. Expected in showrooms in the second half of 2026, it lands as the Geely EX5, Kia EV5, XPeng G6 and Tesla Model Y crowd the sub-$55k electric SUV class.
2026 XPeng G6 Final Pricing: Four Variants From $51,800, $3,000 Cheaper Than The Outgoing Car
XPeng ANZ opens the updated G6 order book on the factory-direct switchover. Standard Range $51,800, Long Range $56,800, AWD Performance $63,800 and AWD Performance Black Edition $66,800, all before on-road costs. That is a $3,000 cut across the equivalent outgoing variants at the same moment XPeng adds 800V silicon carbide architecture, 5C ultra-fast charging with a 451kW DC peak, LFP chemistry and a longer factory-backed warranty. WLTP range up to 525km on the Long Range, 480km on the Standard Range and 510km on both AWD variants. Peak DC is quoted at 451kW for a 10 to 80 per cent stop in about 12 minutes, adding up to 427km of range in a 15-minute pause. AWD Performance runs a 358kW/660Nm dual-motor stack for a claimed 4.13-second 0 to 100km/h, and the Black Edition adds gloss black paint, black-finish 20-inch alloys, smoked-black badging and black brake calipers over the standard Performance. Cabin standard kit spans a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, 10.25-inch driver display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual wireless phone chargers, 18-speaker XOPERA audio, Nappa leather, heated ventilated and massaging front seats, and a Nvidia Orin-X XPILOT stack. Warranty steps up to 7-year unlimited-km for private buyers on cars sold from 1 June 2026, with 8-year 160,000km battery cover. Orders open now, deliveries during July 2026. ANCAP rating is a carry-over 5-star from the pre-update Euro NCAP score, no re-test announced yet.
XPeng Confirms Free Tesla FSD Rival 'VLA 2.0' for Australia in 2027, Debuts on the Mona L03 But Today's G6 Misses Out
XPeng has told Australian media it will switch on VLA 2.0 supervised self-driving in Australia from 2027, free for owners, where Tesla FSD Supervised here runs at $149 a month. The catch: only cars on XPeng's new Turing chip platform support it, starting with the Mona L03 small electric crossover that gets a global reveal in Munich on 16 July 2026. The current $54,800 to $59,800 XPeng G6, including the 1 July 2026 update, stays on Nvidia Orin-X hardware and cannot run VLA 2.0. Australia is in the first global wave of VLA 2.0 markets. XPeng holds a Melbourne brand launch event on 21 July 2026 to lock in pricing and the wider Australian product map.
