When we covered the M9 Premium on 1 October, the eight-seat Dynamic was a "coming soon" card on BYD's website and a $61,990 figure that outlets were reporting but BYD hadn't published. That has changed. The M9 Dynamic is now on BYD Australia's online configurator, and BYD's M9 spec sheet has a Dynamic column.
The Price, and What It Is
We read BYD's configurator on 29 October 2026. It offers the M9 Dynamic at $61,990 beside the M9 Premium at $72,990. Both are the model prices the configurator shows for each grade. The configurator says it needs your postcode to estimate a drive-away price, and we didn't enter one, so there is no drive-away figure in this article. Expect on-road costs to take your total above $61,990.
The order summary shows an estimated delivery of October 2026 and a $1,000 order fee, which the page calls "fully refundable". BYD's terms add that an order can be cancelled, and the deposit not refunded, if you don't take delivery within two months of being told the car is in stock. One more note: a line of body copy on BYD's M9 page still says the Dynamic is "coming soon". The configurator and the specification table both list it, so we have gone with those.

Source: BYD Australia's M9 specification sheets (Dynamic: MY26 M9 DM-i sheet, reference 261026) and configurator, read 29 October 2026. Both grades pair a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine with a 200kW front motor and drive the front wheels, as BYD prints it.
What the Dynamic Gives Up
The headline trade is the battery. The Dynamic's 20.4kWh pack is BYD's quoted 80km of WLTP electric range against the Premium's 145km, so a daily commute is less likely to stay on the plug. BYD's fuel figures follow the same pattern: 2.7L/100km for the Dynamic on its weighted measure, and 7.1L/100km once the battery is flat. We don't have a comparable weighted figure for the Premium on file, so we show that one as no data. The Premium's charge-sustaining figure is 7.3L/100km.
On equipment, BYD's sheet prints a dash, its symbol for unavailable, in the Dynamic column for the 50W wireless phone charger, front seat heating, driver's seat massage, front seat memory, the 15.6-inch fold-down rear entertainment screen, the in-car refrigerator/hotbox, memory exterior mirrors and the auto-dimming digital rear-view mirror. The Dynamic does get a 15.6-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and 18-inch alloy wheels. That list is only what BYD printed as unavailable, so read the sheet itself before you order.
What it gains is the extra seat, and some weight back. BYD prints a 2,450kg kerb weight and a 706kg payload for the Dynamic, against 2,650kg and 624kg for the Premium. If you regularly carry eight people, that is the grade that seats them.

Safety: No ANCAP Rating for the Dynamic
ANCAP has rated the M9 at five stars, but the rating applies to seven-seat variants. Its record says eight-seat variants are currently unrated, which is the Dynamic. So the Dynamic's safety rating is no data on CarSorted, not a star count borrowed from the Premium. BYD's sheet lists airbags, but doesn't print a total for the Dynamic, so we haven't stated one.
Warranty
BYD states a six-year, 150,000km vehicle warranty and an eight-year, 160,000km traction battery warranty for the M9.
What This Means for Buyers
If you need to seat eight, the Dynamic is the M9 grade that does it, at $61,990 on BYD's configurator, which is $11,000 less than the Premium. What you take on in return is a smaller battery, less electric range, less power and a plainer cabin. For a family that charges at home and does mostly short trips, 80km of electric range may still cover the week. If you're doing long highway runs, the plug matters less and the 7.1L/100km charge-sustaining figure matters more.
