2026 Chery C5 Hybrid Priced for Australia: Urban $31,990 Driveaway, Ultimate $34,990, In Dealers This Month
Chery Australia expands the small SUV C5 range with hybrid power from 1 July 2026. Urban $31,990 driveaway, Ultimate $34,990 driveaway, both national. Series-parallel hybrid, 1.5L turbo petrol + 150kW PMSM electric motor, 1.83kWh LFP battery, combined 165kW/295Nm through a single-speed dedicated hybrid transmission and FWD, 4.9L/100km and 111g/km CO2. Petrol C5 range simplified to Urban only at $28,990 driveaway (down $1,000). Urban gets dual 12.3-inch screens, heated front seats, wireless CarPlay/Android Auto and 17-inch alloys; Ultimate adds a 360-degree camera, Sony 8-speaker audio, ventilated seats, heated wheel, panoramic sunroof, power tailgate and 18-inch alloys. 7-year vehicle warranty, 8-year battery warranty, 7 years capped-price servicing. Petrol C5 5-star ANCAP carries from 2022 Omoda 5 assessment; hybrid coverage pending confirmation. First deliveries this month.

Chery confirms 'Stockman' as the production name for its KP31 dual-cab on 17 June 2026. World-first diesel plug-in hybrid ute, 3,500kg braked tow, 1,000kg payload, dual-cab body, Q4 2026 deliveries. Name won a 12,000-vote public ballot with 25%+ share, beating Outrider, Orca, Ironbark, Bushwalker, Longreach, Ridgeback, Terra and Mate, off the back of more than 20,000 entries. Victorian entrant Steve Kodikara takes the first Stockman delivered in Australia. 2.0L petrol PHEV follows in 2027. ANCAP not yet rated, RRP TBC.
Lepas L6 Electric SUV Confirmed for Australia Q4 2026: Chery Opens Its Third Local Brand With a 450km Mid-Sizer
Chery Group locks in a Q4 2026 Australian launch for new sub-brand Lepas, kicking off with the L6 mid-size electric SUV. 67kWh LFP battery, 160kW front motor, ~450km WLTP range, 120kW DC charging. Own dealer network separate from Chery and Omoda Jaecoo, positioned about 5% above Jaecoo on price. ANCAP not yet rated. Lepas L4 small EV and L8 PHEV due in 2027. Aimed squarely at the Geely EX5, BYD Atto 3 and Tesla Model Y.
