Configure the Seduction 60kW PureTech 5-speed manualThe MY2018 Citroen C3 was sold in Australia in a single Shine grade with one drivetrain: the 1.2-litre three-cylinder PureTech 110 turbo petrol, 81 kW and 205 Nm, driving the front wheels through a six-speed automatic. Citroen Australia quoted 4.9 L/100km combined and 110 g/km of CO2, 10.9 seconds to 100 km/h and a 188 km/h top speed. At 3,996 mm long on a 2,539 mm wheelbase and 1,090 kg at the kerb it is a light hatch first and foremost, with a 300-litre boot that opens to 922 litres with the rear seats folded and the parcel shelf out. Braked towing is a modest 450 kg. Standard kit ran to 17-inch diamond-cut alloys, Airbumps, a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic air conditioning, a reversing camera with rear sensors, lane departure warning and speed sign recognition. Autonomous emergency braking was not on this print; it arrived with the MY19 car.

The wheels went the other way, down from 17-inch to 16-inch Matrix alloys on 205/55 R16 with a space-saver spare, which is no bad thing on Australian roads. Towing stays at 450 kg braked and the boot is unchanged at 300 litres, 922 with the seats down.
Configure the Shine PureTech 110hp S&S EAT6 (MY19)The Seduction manual was the entry Citroen C3 in Australia in 2014 and the only one with three cylinders. Its 1.2-litre PureTech petrol makes 60 kW and 118 Nm through a five-speed manual, which is enough for 12.3 seconds to 100 km/h and a 174 km/h top speed, but the point of it is the fuel bill: 4.5 L/100km combined on ADR 81/02 and 104 g/km of CO2, from a 50-litre tank. It rides on 15-inch steel wheels with covers and 185/65 R15 tyres and carries a full-size steel spare, which is rarer than it should be in this class. Mass in service is 1,050 kg and it will tow 1,100 kg braked, a much stronger figure than the later C3 III manages. Six airbags, ESC, cruise control with a speed limiter, the panoramic Zenith windscreen, Bluetooth with USB and heated folding mirrors are all standard; rear parking sensors, a reversing camera and satellite navigation are not, and were reserved for the Exclusive.

It is quicker, 10.9 seconds to 100 km/h against 12.3, and much thirstier: 6.9 L/100km combined on ADR 81/02 and 158 g/km against the manual's 4.5 and 104. Four ratios was old-fashioned even in 2014 and the urban figure of 9.6 L/100km shows it. In exchange you get 16-inch Valonga alloys on 195/55 R16 tyres, rear disc brakes instead of drums and a 1,150 kg braked towing rating. Equipment is otherwise the Seduction list: six airbags, ESC, cruise control with limiter, Bluetooth with USB, heated folding mirrors, the panoramic Zenith windscreen and manual air conditioning, without the Exclusive's camera, sensors and satellite navigation.
Configure the Seduction 88kW 4-speed automaticExclusive was the top of the Australian C3 range in 2014 and the only grade with the toys. Mechanically it is the same car as the Seduction automatic, since Citroen Australia printed one engineering column for both: the 1.6-litre four with 88 kW and 160 Nm, a four-speed automatic, 6.9 L/100km combined and 158 g/km, 1,164 kg in service and 1,150 kg of braked towing. What you pay extra for is eMyWay satellite navigation, a reversing camera with rear parking sensors, automatic digital air conditioning, automatic lights and wipers, interior mood lighting, six speakers instead of four, a front central armrest and 17-inch Clover alloys on 205/45 R17 rubber, with a space saver spare underneath. Inside it swaps the Seduction's Fyber cloth for Andorra Gloss and Dinamica trim, with perforated leather optional.
