The Citroen C5 X Shine PureTech 180 was Citroen's flagship crossover on its MY2022 Australian launch, powered by a 1.6-litre PureTech 180 turbo-petrol with stop-start making 133kW/250Nm through an 8-speed automatic. Citroen Australia's launch brochure claims 6.0L/100km combined and 137g/km CO2 on the ADR 81/02 cycle, an 8.1-second 0-100km/h, a 545-litre boot (1640 litres to the roof with the rear seats folded) and 1600kg braked towing. The Citroen C5 X Shine's MY2024 Australian range spec sheet confirms the same 1.6-litre PureTech 180 turbo-petrol (133kW/250Nm, 8-speed automatic) and headline figures as its MY2022 launch spec: 6.0L/100km combined, 137g/km CO2, a 545-litre boot (1640 to the roof) and 1600kg braked towing. This document times 0-100km/h at 10.4 seconds, slower than the 8.1 seconds claimed on the MY22 sheet for the same powertrain and kerb weight. Standard equipment on this fully-loaded single petrol grade included a 12-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a configurable 7-inch digital instrument panel, head-up display, 360-degree camera, panoramic opening roof, and heated, electrically adjustable, massage-function leather front seats.

The Citroen C5 X Shine Plug-In Hybrid combined the 1.6-litre PureTech 180 turbo-petrol (133kW/300Nm in this state of tune) with an 81.2kW/320Nm electric motor for a combined 165kW/360Nm through an 8-speed automatic, per Citroen Australia's MY24 range spec sheet. The 12.4kWh lithium-ion battery is rated for 60km of WLTP electric-only range, charging 0-100% in 3hrs41mins on a 7.4kW wallbox or 5hrs56mins on a domestic 8A plug. Citroen claims a 7.8-second 0-100km/h (quicker than the petrol-only Shine thanks to the electric boost) and 1350kg braked towing, with a smaller 485-litre boot and 43-litre tank than the petrol car to make room for the battery.
