The 2026 Mazda 6e GT is Mazda Australia's first dedicated electric car, a sleek mid-size liftback rather than an SUV. A single rear-mounted motor makes 190kW and 290Nm, fed by a 78kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery for up to 560km of WLTP range. DC fast charging peaks at 195kW for a 30 to 80 per cent top-up in about 15 minutes. The GT opens the range on 19-inch alloys at $49,990 before on-road costs, with a 5-year unlimited-kilometre warranty plus an 8-year, 160,000km high-voltage battery warranty. Built in China by the Changan Mazda joint venture, with first Australian deliveries from July 2026. ANCAP has not rated it yet.

The 2026 Mazda 6e is a mid-size electric sedan that suits buyers wanting something upmarket and practical without going full premium. It'll do 560km on a charge, which is genuinely solid for the price point and covers most daily driving plus weekend trips. The main thing to keep in mind is that at 7.9 seconds to 100, it's quick enough but not exactly thrilling if you're after proper performance in an EV.
