The 2025 MG U9 Explore is the entry to MG's first ute for Australia, a full-size 4x4 dual-cab that undercuts mainstream rivals. It runs a 2.5-litre turbo diesel with 160kW and 520Nm through a ZF 8-speed automatic and a BorgWarner dual-range transfer case, tows the full 3,500kg braked and carries an 870kg payload. Unusually for the class it uses independent multi-link rear suspension for a more settled ride. The Explore keeps things simple with 18-inch wheels, artificial-leather trim, a 12.3-inch screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six-speaker system and a full driver-assist suite including AEB, blind-spot monitoring and adaptive cruise. MG had not published an ANCAP rating at the time of listing.
Configure the ExploreThe 2025 MG U9 Explore X is the mid-grade of MG's full-size 4x4 ute, adding equipment over the Explore while keeping the 160kW/520Nm 2.5-litre turbo diesel, ZF 8-speed automatic and 3,500kg braked towing. It steps up to 19-inch wheels, a 360-degree camera, heated front seats, satellite navigation, voice control, wireless phone charging, electric-folding mirrors and over-the-air updates. Independent rear suspension and the BorgWarner dual-range transfer case carry over. Payload eases slightly to 835kg, and MG had not published an ANCAP rating at the time of listing.
Configure the Explore XThe 2025 MG U9 Explore Pro is the flagship of MG's first ute, loading up the full-size 4x4 dual-cab with luxury and off-road hardware. It keeps the 160kW/520Nm 2.5-litre turbo diesel, ZF 8-speed automatic and 3,500kg braked towing, and adds front and rear differential locks, 20-inch wheels, a panoramic sunroof, leather seats with heating, ventilation, massage and memory, a JBL eight-speaker system, an electric tri-folding tailgate with rear step, a streaming rear-view mirror and 64-colour ambient lighting. Payload is 770kg, the lowest in the range because of the extra equipment, and MG had not published an ANCAP rating at the time of listing.
