The 2026 Hyundai Kona 2.0 FWD is a compact SUV that suits first-time buyers and budget-conscious families seeking practical city transport with genuine safety credentials, backed by a 5-year warranty and respectable 5-star ANCAP rating. Its standout strength is the combination of genuine affordability, reasonable fuel economy at 6.6L/100km, and a useful 361-litre boot that actually suits real-world shopping and weekend trips. One thing to consider: the 110kW petrol engine is modest, so if you regularly carry five passengers or tow near its 1300kg capacity, you'll feel the engine working harder than some rivals in this class.

The 2026 Hyundai Kona Hybrid FWD is a compact SUV that suits budget-conscious buyers after genuine fuel economy without the complexity of full electrics, delivering an impressive 3.9L/100km combined consumption. Its standout strength is the combination of a 1.6-litre petrol-hybrid drivetrain producing 104kW and 265Nm with a five-star ANCAP safety rating, all backed by Hyundai's five-year warranty and reasonable running costs of around $1353 annually. One thing to consider: while the 361-litre boot and 1300kg towing capacity are adequate for weekend trips, they're modest compared to some rival SUVs if you regularly transport large loads or tow caravans.

The 2026 Hyundai Kona Premium 1.6T AWD is a compact petrol SUV that suits buyers wanting practical all-wheel drive capability without the fuel consumption of larger models, delivering 7.6L/100km efficiency with 146kW and 265Nm from its turbocharged 1.6-litre engine. Its standout strength is the five-star ANCAP safety rating combined with a competitive five-year warranty and estimated running costs around $1353 annually, making it sensible for families prioritising peace of mind. One consideration is the 361-litre boot space, which is modest for serious cargo duties, though it handles 1300kg towing if you need that capacity.

The 2026 Hyundai Kona Premium Hybrid FWD is a practical compact SUV that suits budget-conscious families wanting hybrid efficiency without premium pricing, combining a 1.6-litre petrol-electric powertrain that sips just 3.9L/100km with genuine everyday usability across five seats and 361 litres of boot space. Its standout strength is that frugal fuel consumption figure paired with a respectable 1300kg towing capacity, making it genuinely versatile for Australian buyers juggling weekend trips and school runs without constant fuel stops. The main consideration is its modest 104kW output-adequate for city driving and highways, but worth test-driving if you regularly merge in heavy traffic or tow near maximum capacity, as acceleration is leisurely rather than spirited.

2026 Hyundai Staria Hybrid Priced for Australia: Lounge People Mover $73,740, Load Van From $53,490

Hyundai locks in MY26 Staria pricing with a first-ever hybrid across the passenger and Load van ranges. Staria Lounge Hybrid $73,740, Load Hybrid $53,490 and Load Premium Hybrid $61,240, all before on-roads. New 1.6L turbo-petrol hybrid pushes 180kW/366Nm combined through a six-speed auto to the front wheels, so the AWD lever stays on the retained 2.2L turbo-diesel. Passenger range simplified: Elite and Highlander shelved, Lounge takes over the top with seven Nappa captain-chair seats. Retained 3.5L V6 (200kW) still stands on the base Staria petrol. 2,500kg braked tow rating carries over. A 160kW Staria Load EV is due later in 2026 to chase the Kia PV5 Cargo and Ford E-Transit Custom. ANCAP rating is still 5-star for now with a retest under way as the current certificate nears expiry. Five year unlimited-km vehicle warranty, 8yr/160,000km hybrid battery warranty.

Honda Civic Type R Orders Reopen: 98 Cars for Australia at $85,000 Driveaway, Carbon Wing Left Off

Honda Australia reopens Civic Type R order books today at midday with just 98 cars for the entire country at $85,000 driveaway, the same figure as the February batch but without the carbon-fibre rear wing that ran as a $5,300 option and then a standard fitment on earlier allocations. A $5,000 refundable deposit locks a build slot, first customer deliveries in December 2026. Mechanicals unchanged: 235kW/420Nm 2.0L VTEC turbo, six-speed manual with rev-matching, helical LSD, front-wheel drive. Honda has been running roughly 80 Type R deliveries a month and the August 2025 batch cleared inside an hour, so 98 cars is a rounding error against national demand. Cross-shop against the Toyota GR Yaris GTS Aero at ~$72k driveaway, Hyundai i30 N Premium at ~$58k, VW Golf R at ~$77k and Subaru WRX tS at ~$63k. ANCAP not yet rated on the FL5 body.
