Key Takeaways
- $2,500 Virtual Visa Gift Card and a portable charger valued at $279 RRP on a new Forthing, per Forthing Australia's own offer page
- New stock purchased and delivered between 1 November and 31 December 2026, at participating dealers, while stock lasts
- The card arrives up to four weeks after delivery; the charger is handed over at delivery
- Forthing's prices are unchanged: $36,990 to $42,490 drive-away across the Taikon 5 range, per our records
- A gift card is not a price cut, so the number on your contract stays where it is

If you were already leaning towards a Forthing, the clock just got a date on it. Forthing Australia is adding a $2,500 gift card and a portable electric charger for buyers who take delivery of a new car before the end of the year. We read the offer page and its fine print on 3 November 2026, and the terms are narrower than the headline.
The useful buyer point is a plain one. A gift card is a separate benefit, not a discount. Nothing on Forthing's page lowers the drive-away price of a Forthing Taikon 5, so we have left the prices below as the manufacturer prints them and haven't subtracted the card from any of them.

Source: Forthing Australia special offers page, read 3 November 2026. The page headline reads “Get a $2,500 gift card on top” and ends “Ends 31 December”.
Two details matter. First, both the purchase and the delivery have to land between 1 November and 31 December. Forthing's wording is “purchased and delivered”, so a car you sign for in December that arrives in January sits outside the printed dates. Second, the offer is for new stock vehicles. Forthing's price footnote also describes its drive-away prices as covering new stock without added options, so check which car the dealer is actually quoting you.
The Visa card is a prepaid card. Its issuer's terms list what it can't be used for, including cash withdrawals at ATMs and payments to the Australian Taxation Office, and say it works at merchants that accept prepaid Visa cards. We haven't reproduced the card terms here, so read them before you count on the card for anything specific.
What Forthing Doesn't Say
We read the offer page, the disclaimer and the model pages. Forthing doesn't print the following, so we can't tell you, and neither should anyone else without checking with the dealer:
- Whether fleet, ABN or business buyers qualify, as against private buyers
- Whether the offer combines with other offers, a finance deal or a trade-in
- Whether a dealer demonstrator counts as new stock
- Which dealers are participating; Forthing has a separate dealer finder on its site
- What happens if stock runs out before 31 December; the page says only “while stock lasts”
The “full terms, conditions and exclusions” link in Forthing's page footer opens its warranty terms, not a set of offer terms, so the disclaimer on the offer page is the whole of what is published.
Which Forthings Are Eligible, and What We List Them At
Forthing says a new Forthing. Its model pages list two: the Electric and the Range Extender Hybrid, each in Luxury and Exclusive grades, both on the Taikon 5 SUV body. Forthing prints these prices as drive-away at participating dealers and names no state; our records file them under the Victorian drive-away field. They match Forthing's model pages as read on 3 November 2026.
| Range Extender Hybrid | Drive-away | Battery | Electric range (WLTP) |

Prices are our directory rows 1754 to 1757, checked against Forthing Australia's model pages on 3 November 2026. They are the figures before any gift card, and we haven't adjusted them for it. ANCAP: we hold no rating for these rows.
Why a Gift Card Isn't a Price Cut
A price cut lowers the amount you hand over. A gift card leaves that amount alone and gives you something back afterwards. Forthing's own words put the card up to four weeks after delivery, so it sits outside the sale rather than inside it, and nothing on the page says it reduces the contract price. In practice that means the figure you agree on, the figure you finance and the figure on your paperwork stay as quoted, and the card arrives later as a separate Visa card with its own terms.
That is why the headline works better as a bonus than as a bargain. Spending the card on something you were going to buy anyway has value; treating it as $2,500 off the car doesn't match how the offer is built. The portable charger works the same way. It has a stated RRP of $279 and arrives at delivery, but Forthing hasn't put it into the price either.
How the Prices Sit Against Rivals in Our Directory
Here are the nearest rivals we list at similar money. The bases differ, so read the column headed Price basis before you compare numbers. Forthing's figures include on-road costs; the rivals shown are list prices before them.
| Plug-in or electric SUV | Price | Price basis | Battery | Electric range (WLTP) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Forthing Taikon 5 Range Extender Hybrid Luxury | $36,990 | Drive-away | 31.9kWh | 170km |
| Geely Starray EM-i Complete | $37,490 | Before on-road costs | 18.4kWh | 83km |
| Forthing Taikon 5 BEV Luxury | $38,990 | Drive-away | 64.4kWh | 427km |
| BYD Atto 3 Essential | $39,990 | Before on-road costs | 49.9kWh | 345km |
| Geely EX5 Complete | $41,990 | Before on-road costs | 68.4kWh | 475km |
Current price on CarSorted: Forthing Taikon 5 Range Extender Hybrid Luxury $36,990 drive-away (VIC), as at 21 Jun 2026; Geely Starray EM-i Complete $37,490 RRP, as at 4 Oct 2026; Forthing Taikon 5 BEV Luxury $38,990 drive-away (VIC), as at 21 Jun 2026; BYD Atto 3 Essential $39,990 RRP, as at 1 Oct 2026.
Rival prices and specs are from our directory listings on 3 November 2026 and are not a manufacturer's latest word; check each manufacturer's own page. No gift card, rebate or other offer is applied to any figure.
Because the Forthing figures include on-road costs and the rivals don't, the gaps are not like for like, and a rival's drive-away price will be higher than its list price. The direction is still worth knowing: the Taikon 5 Range Extender Hybrid Luxury's drive-away figure is under the Starray EM-i Complete's list price, and it carries a bigger battery and a longer claimed electric range. On the electric side, the Taikon 5 BEV Luxury's drive-away figure is under the Atto 3 Essential's list price with a bigger battery and a longer range, while the EX5 Complete lists above it with a larger battery and a longer claimed range again. Put them side by side on our Taikon 5 vs Starray EM-i and Taikon 5 vs EX5 pages.
What This Means for Buyers
You get the facts, you make the decision. The facts here are a $2,500 prepaid Visa card, a portable charger and a delivery deadline of 31 December, on a range whose drive-away prices haven't moved. If a Taikon 5 was already on your shortlist, the offer is a reason to check which cars a dealer has in stock and can deliver in time. If it wasn't, it isn't a reason to add one: judge the car on its price, battery, range and the warranty, and treat the card as a bonus.
Before you sign, ask the dealer for four things in writing: that the car you are buying is new stock that qualifies, the delivery date and whether it falls on or before 31 December, whether the offer applies to your type of purchase if you are buying through a business, and the drive-away price with and without the offer so you can see that the number hasn't changed. Then read the Visa card terms. Our Forthing brand page lists the Forthing rows in the directory.
Disclaimer: The offer terms are from Forthing Australia's special offers page and model pages as read on 3 November 2026. Offers are at participating dealers on new stock, while stock lasts, and can change or end sooner than the dates printed. Prices are drive-away as stored in our directory (Forthing) or list prices before on-road costs (rivals) and may differ from a manufacturer's current page. We have not driven a Taikon 5. Confirm the offer, the price and your eligibility with an authorised Forthing dealer.
