The Chery Stockman is a dual-cab ute confirmed for Australia but not yet on sale and not yet priced. Chery's own specification sheet, Edition 1.00 dated October 2026, covers exactly one car: the Model Year 2027 Stockman Ultimate AWD. That is the only grade and the only powertrain Chery Australia has published for it. Reservations are open with a $1,000 fully refundable fee until 30 November 2026, Chery's reservation page says the final price is to be confirmed soon with delivery starting from 1 February 2027, and the model page still lists the Australian launch as "Soon". The powertrain is the diesel plug-in hybrid Chery markets as Super Hybrid. The 2.5-litre turbo-diesel is rated 140kW and 450Nm on its own, and with the electric side working Chery quotes a combined 350kW and 800Nm through a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission it calls 4DHT, driving all four wheels on 285/70 R17 all-terrain tyres. The 34kWh lithium iron phosphate battery sits under the cargo tub and takes up to 6.6kW on AC or 70kW on DC from a port on the driver's side at the rear. On the ADR 81/03 WLTC cycle Chery quotes up to 96km of electric range with those all-terrain tyres fitted, 311Wh/km, 1.1L/100km combined and 30g/km of CO2, with an 80-litre diesel tank. It tows 3,495kg braked and 750kg unbraked with a 350kg maximum towball download. Curb mass is 2,735kg against a 3,500kg gross vehicle mass and a 6,500kg gross combination mass. Chery prints no payload figure for it, so we show none. It measures 5,450 x 2,010 x 1,930mm on a 3,250mm wheelbase with at least 247mm of ground clearance at full load, a 30 degree approach angle and a 25 degree departure angle, and the tub is 1,560mm long, 1,560mm wide, 505mm deep and 1,220mm between the wheel arches. Suspension is double wishbone front and leaf spring rear. Off-road hardware runs to 4H, 4L and an intelligent 4WD mode, differential locks front, centre and rear, turn assist, crawl control and an expert mode, with snow, mud, sand and rock drive modes on top of eco, normal and sport. Safety equipment on the sheet includes autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, emergency lane keeping, lane departure warning and prevention, lane centering, adaptive cruise, blind spot detection, rear collision warning, rear and front cross-traffic assist, door opening warning, speed limit information, a driver monitoring system, an occupant monitoring system, a 360 degree camera, six front and six rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring, and driver, front passenger, front side, curtain and front centre airbags. Inside there are five seats in synthetic leather, an eight-way power driver's seat with memory and a four-way power passenger seat, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a 10.25-inch driver display, a 15.6-inch touchscreen, a head-up display, 14 speakers, wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and two 230V outlets. Wheels are 17-inch alloys with a full-size alloy spare. Ownership is covered by a 7-year unlimited kilometre warranty, 7 years of capped-price servicing, up to 7 years of roadside assistance and an 8-year unlimited kilometre high-voltage battery warranty from first registration. Chery labels the whole sheet indicative and subject to change, and its consumption, emissions and range figures as indicative laboratory results. ANCAP has published no rating for this model. Chery's own claim for it is Australia's first diesel PHEV ute.
