The Ford Ranger Super Duty is a heavy-duty version of the regular Ranger built for serious towing and carrying. This is the entry Single Cab cab-chassis, with a maximum payload up to 1,982kg. It runs a 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel making 154kW and 600Nm (a lower-stress tune than the regular Ranger V6) through a 10-speed auto and full-time four-wheel drive. The numbers that matter are the ratings: a 4,500kg GVM, an 8,000kg gross combined mass and a 4,500kg braked towing capacity. It backs that with a heavy-duty chassis, upgraded axles, eight-stud hubs, 33-inch tyres, front and rear locking diffs and a 130-litre long-range tank. ANCAP has not crash-tested the Super Duty. Figures here are from Ford Australia, not a road test.
