The MY2025 Jaecoo J7 Core is the entry grade of the Australian J7 range: a 137 kW / 275 Nm 1.6-litre turbo petrol four with a seven-speed dual-clutch and front-wheel drive, rated at 7.0 L/100km and 163 g/km on the NEDC (ADR 81/02) cycle. It carries a 1,534 kg tare mass against a 1,939 kg GVM and a 424-litre boot to the cargo cover. Even at the bottom of the range it gets the full ADAS suite - AEB, adaptive cruise, traffic jam assist, blind spot detection, lane change assist, rear cross traffic braking and a driver monitoring system - plus a 13.2-inch touchscreen, 10.25-inch digital cluster, synthetic leather, a six-way power driver's seat, power retracting door handles and Jaecoo's eight-year unlimited-kilometre warranty. It differs from the Track mainly in having manual air conditioning, rear-only parking sensors, no 360-degree camera and six speakers rather than the Sony eight.
