The Toyota Coaster is a 22-seat minibus built for schools, tour operators and community groups, and it runs a 2.8-litre turbo-diesel making 110kW and 420Nm through a 6-speed automatic. This is the Standard grade, with a folding passenger service door. Every one of the 22 seats gets a 3-point seat belt, and it packs Toyota Safety Sense, a reversing camera, emergency exits and a fire extinguisher as standard. Like almost all buses it carries no ANCAP rating, and it sits on a 95-litre diesel tank with a 5,235kg gross vehicle mass. Figures here are from Toyota Australia, not a road test.

2026 Lexus ES Priced for Australia: Electric ES 350e From $77,000, Hybrid ES 300h From $75,000

Lexus Australia locks in the eighth-generation ES with a first-ever electric option. Hybrid ES 300h Luxury opens the range at $75,000 before on-roads, ES 300h Luxury + Enhancement Package sits at $82,000. The battery-electric ES 350e Sports Luxury lands at $77,000 with a 74.7kWh pack and up to 510km WLTP range, while the dual-motor ES 500e Sports Luxury AWD tops the range at $84,000 with 252kW combined and 465km. Both EVs share a 150kW DC and 22kW three-phase AC charging setup. Bigger new body: 5,140mm long on a 2,950mm wheelbase, 14-inch touchscreen, first Lexus to run Toyota's Arene OS. Electric variants arrive Q3 2026, hybrid ES 300h follows later in the year. ANCAP not yet rated after the previous car's 2018 5-star result expired.

2026 Toyota Corolla Cross GR Sport Priced for Australia: New Sporty Flagship at $50,990, Range Opens at $37,440

Toyota Australia confirms MY26 Corolla Cross pricing ahead of a 24 July showroom date. Range opens at $37,440 before on-roads for the GX 2WD Hybrid, up about $960. The headline is a new GR Sport AWD flagship at $50,990 (or $52,340 in Two-Tone), landing at exactly the same money as the Atmos AWD it sits next to. Same 146kW hybrid across the range with a 2.0L Atkinson four and e-CVT, but the GR Sport swaps some of Atmos's comfort kit for a unique suspension and steering tune, model-specific 19-inch alloys and a sportier interior. Existing 5-star ANCAP rating carries over. GX and Atmos land first on 24 July, GXL and GR Sport follow later in the year.

Honda Civic Type R Orders Reopen: 98 Cars for Australia at $85,000 Driveaway, Carbon Wing Left Off

Honda Australia reopens Civic Type R order books today at midday with just 98 cars for the entire country at $85,000 driveaway, the same figure as the February batch but without the carbon-fibre rear wing that ran as a $5,300 option and then a standard fitment on earlier allocations. A $5,000 refundable deposit locks a build slot, first customer deliveries in December 2026. Mechanicals unchanged: 235kW/420Nm 2.0L VTEC turbo, six-speed manual with rev-matching, helical LSD, front-wheel drive. Honda has been running roughly 80 Type R deliveries a month and the August 2025 batch cleared inside an hour, so 98 cars is a rounding error against national demand. Cross-shop against the Toyota GR Yaris GTS Aero at ~$72k driveaway, Hyundai i30 N Premium at ~$58k, VW Golf R at ~$77k and Subaru WRX tS at ~$63k. ANCAP not yet rated on the FL5 body.
