Peugeot Australia Slashes Drive-Aways Up to About $28,000 as Inchcape Winds Down: e-Expert, 2008, 308, 3008, 408 and 5008 Offer-By-Offer

If you had a Peugeot on the shortlist and you have been waiting for the numbers to make sense, this is the week. Peugeot Australia has moved almost the entire lineup onto sharp drive-away offers, with the biggest single number a roughly $26,805 cut on the fully electric e-Expert Pro Long van, and mid-teens thousands off most of the passenger cars. There is no advertised end date. The deals run while stocks last and, given how thin the run-out inventory is, that phrase is doing real work.

The reason matters as much as the discount. Inchcape, the private importer that has run Peugeot locally since 2017, is winding down its distribution deal after a run of poor sales, roughly 48 cars nationally to the end of July 2026 and about a 41 per cent slide on the same window in 2025. Stellantis has said publicly Peugeot will stay in Australia, but a new distributor has not been named and no handover date is on the board. That backdrop is what buyers are paying attention to, not just the sticker.

The Offers, Model by Model

A quick note on the numbers. Peugeot Australia lists these offers as drive-away, which folds in stamp duty, dealer delivery, first-year registration and CTP. The old figures we have shown are the standard before-on-roads sticker prices published on the Peugeot Australia model pages before this campaign started. That is the fair like-for-like read, because on-roads normally sit between about $3,000 and $6,000 on top of an MSRP depending on the state and the price of the car, so the true walk-in saving is closer to that headline number than a same-format subtraction suggests.

The Passenger Cars: All Mild-Hybrid, Not Plug-In

Every 2008, 308, 3008, 408 and 5008 in the current Peugeot Australia range shares a common drivetrain: a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol paired with a small electric motor and a 48-volt battery, feeding a six-speed dual-clutch automatic and the front wheels. It is a mild-hybrid, not a plug-in. Peak system outputs sit around 100 to 107kW with about 230Nm depending on the model, and Peugeot claims combined-cycle fuel figures in the low 5L/100km range, with the 5008 GT Premium Hybrid quoted at 5.1L/100km. Do not confuse this with the plug-in 3008 or 408 sold in Europe. Neither is offered here.

The seven-seat 5008 GT Premium Hybrid is the one that catches the eye at $59,990 drive-away. That undercuts a lot of the mid-size seven-seat competition once you include on-roads, and the equipment list is generous by Peugeot standards, with a panoramic i-Cockpit dash, heated and massaging front seats, the 21-speaker Focal audio option in higher trims, and Peugeot's long five-year, 200,000km warranty.

The Electric Van: The Actual Bargain

The e-Expert Pro Long at $56,990 drive-away is the number that stops you. It is a proper electric medium van with a 75kWh lithium-ion battery, a 100kW / 260Nm front-mounted electric motor, a single-speed reduction gear, and a claimed WLTP range of up to 330km. DC fast charging is quoted at 100kW peak, which puts a 0 to 80 per cent top-up at around 45 minutes on a fast charger. Payload for the Pro Long sits around 1,000kg and load volume is close to 6.6 cubic metres depending on how you spec the bulkhead.

That is real electric van territory, and $56,990 drive-away lands it in the same conversation as the newer Chinese and Korean alternatives that have been dropping into that segment through 2026. On CarSorted the recently-launched LDV eDeliver 5 holds the lowest sticker at $47,990 drive-away for the short wheelbase, and the Kia PV5 Cargo is at $55,990 before on-roads. The Peugeot is the mid-size, bigger-payload alternative to both, and now it is priced like it wants that fight.

Safety

The current-generation 308 and 3008 carry a five-star ANCAP rating from the 2022 protocols, tested as the wider Peugeot 308/3008 family. The 408 and the new-generation 5008 are not yet rated by ANCAP at the time of writing. The e-Expert has not been tested. Autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise, lane-keep assist and rear cross-traffic alert are standard across the passenger range. The e-Expert Pro Long adds a full-height metal bulkhead as standard, along with front and side airbags for driver and front passenger. Check the specific model's ANCAP certificate before signing, because the passenger-car protocols were rewritten in 2023 and a 2022-tested five-star result no longer directly compares to a car tested against the newer set. How It Compares Against the CarSorted Cross-Shop

The 5008 GT Premium Hybrid at $59,990 drive-away is the most interesting cross-shop on the site. Set against the Mitsubishi Outlander Exceed Tourer at $58,990 before on-roads, and the Nissan X-Trail Ti-L e-Power at $57,990 before on-roads, the Peugeot lands roughly $4,000 to $6,000 ahead once you compare properly against a drive-away for each. The catch is that the Outlander PHEV can plug in and cover the average commute on electrons, and the X-Trail e-Power runs a Nissan series-hybrid drivetrain with a stronger reputation for reliability. The Peugeot's answer is a genuine third row that fits kids, better front-seat comfort than either rival and, right now, the sharper drive-away sticker.

The 2008 GT Hybrid at $39,990 drive-away is a similar story against the Hyundai Kona Hybrid and the Honda HR-V e:HEV. The Peugeot has always been the pricier badge in this bracket. This week it is one of the cheaper. Whether that lifts the buyer signal to the sale itself, or to the after-sale support question hanging over the brand, is the call each buyer has to make.

Warranty and Servicing

Peugeot Australia continues to advertise a five-year, 200,000km new-car warranty and a five-year capped-price service plan, which for the 5008 GT Premium Hybrid quotes at $1,995 for the plan. That is the strongest part of the pitch for a run-out buyer, because it is contractual and it survives a change of distributor as long as the vehicle stays properly serviced through an authorised Peugeot dealer.

The one thing worth doing on delivery day is getting the warranty terms and the service plan restated in writing by the dealer, including which entity is responsible for honouring a claim after Inchcape steps back. Vehicles sold under a manufacturer warranty are backed by the manufacturer, which in Peugeot's case is Stellantis, but paperwork saves arguments later.

What This Means for Buyers

If you were already interested in a Peugeot, the value story just tilted a long way in your favour, and the e-Expert Pro Long at $56,990 drive-away is the pick of the run. A 75kWh, 100kW electric van with a 330km WLTP claim and a five-year, 200,000km warranty is a serious tool for a small business at that price, and it should sit on any electric-van short list in the same conversation as the LDV eDeliver 5 and the Kia PV5 Cargo. For the passenger cars, the 5008 GT Premium Hybrid at $59,990 drive-away is the sharpest metal on the site right now for a seven-seat mid-size hybrid with a proper equipment list.

If you were not already interested, the discount alone is not the reason to buy. The brand's distribution future is genuinely unsettled, spare-parts pipelines will move to a new operator at some point in the next 12 months, and the used-car market has never priced a Peugeot generously. That is not a fatal problem for the family that plans to hold the car for five years and use the capped-price service plan, but it is a real one for the buyer who typically changes cars every three years and cares about trade-in value.
