The 2026 Hyundai i30 Hatch is a practical five-seat hatchback powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine producing 120kW and 203Nm, making it an excellent choice for daily commuters and small families seeking affordable, economical transport with strong safety credentials (5-star ANCAP). Its standout strength is genuine value, delivering a 395-litre boot, respectable 7.3L/100km fuel economy, and competitive running costs around $2920 annually, backed by a five-year warranty. One consideration: the 1200kg towing capacity is modest, so if you regularly haul trailers or caravans, you'll want to verify load requirements carefully against this limit.

The 2026 Hyundai i30 Hatch Active is a practical five-seat hatchback powered by a 2-litre petrol engine delivering 120kW and 203Nm, making it an ideal choice for daily commuters and small families seeking affordable, efficient transport. Its standout strength is the combination of genuine value and safety credentials, with a five-star ANCAP rating, five-year warranty and genuine running costs around $2951 annually, plus a respectable 395-litre boot and 1200kg towing capacity for versatility. The one consideration for Australian buyers is that the 7.4L/100km fuel consumption is respectable rather than exceptional in its class, so if efficiency is your priority, you'll want to test-drive it against some equally-priced rivals.

The main consideration is that at 120kW, the engine feels modest compared to rivals, and with a 395-litre boot, it's tighter than some competitors if you regularly transport larger loads.

The 2026 Hyundai i30 Hatch N Line Premium is a spirited front-wheel-drive hatchback that suits drivers wanting sportier styling and handling without the premium price tag of full-performance variants. Its standout strength is the responsive 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine delivering 150kW and 265Nm through a slick DCT gearbox, returning a respectable 7.1L/100km combined, while the five-star ANCAP rating and comprehensive five-year warranty provide solid peace of mind. The main consideration is boot space at 395 litres-tight for families with bulky gear, though the 1200kg towing capacity suits light trailers if you need extra carrying capacity.

The i30 N DCT swaps the manual for an eight-speed wet dual-clutch with launch control, N Power Shift and N Grin Shift, dropping the 0-100km/h claim to 5.3 seconds. It keeps the same 206kW/392Nm 2.0-litre turbo, E-LSD and adaptive suspension, so it trades some involvement for quicker, more accessible everyday pace. As with all i30 N hatches it currently has no ANCAP rating, so safety is shown as no data.

The i30 N Manual is the entry into Hyundai's hot-hatch range, pairing a 206kW/392Nm 2.0-litre turbo with a six-speed manual, an electronic limited-slip diff and adaptive dampers. It is the purist's pick of the i30 N line-up and the only way to get a clutch pedal in a sub-$55k performance hatch from a mainstream brand. Note the i30 N hatch no longer carries a current ANCAP rating, so safety is rated as no data rather than five stars.

The i30 N Premium Manual is the loaded version of Hyundai's hot hatch, adding the lightweight N Light bucket seats, Alcantara/leather trim, heated seats and steering wheel, parking sensors and an auto-dimming mirror while keeping the six-speed manual. Mechanically it is identical to the base N: 206kW/392Nm 2.0-litre turbo with an E-LSD and adaptive dampers. The N Premium is manual-only in Hyundai's current line-up, and the i30 N hatch carries no current ANCAP rating.

The i30 N Premium with Sunroof Manual is the most equipped manual i30 N, taking the Premium's N Light seats and luxury kit and adding a dual-panel panoramic glass sunroof. The drivetrain is unchanged: 206kW/392Nm 2.0-litre turbo, six-speed manual, E-LSD and adaptive suspension. It is one of only two i30 N grades, alongside the base N, that can also be ordered with the eight-speed N DCT.

The i30 N Premium with Sunroof DCT is the flagship i30 N hatch, combining the eight-speed wet dual-clutch and its 5.3-second 0-100km/h claim with the full Premium feature set and a panoramic sunroof. It gets N Power Shift, N Grin Shift and launch control on top of the N Light seats, heated trim and parking sensors. At 1,541kg it is the heaviest i30 N, and like the rest of the range it currently carries no ANCAP rating.

2026 Hyundai Staria Hybrid Priced for Australia: Lounge People Mover $73,740, Load Van From $53,490

Hyundai locks in MY26 Staria pricing with a first-ever hybrid across the passenger and Load van ranges. Staria Lounge Hybrid $73,740, Load Hybrid $53,490 and Load Premium Hybrid $61,240, all before on-roads. New 1.6L turbo-petrol hybrid pushes 180kW/366Nm combined through a six-speed auto to the front wheels, so the AWD lever stays on the retained 2.2L turbo-diesel. Passenger range simplified: Elite and Highlander shelved, Lounge takes over the top with seven Nappa captain-chair seats. Retained 3.5L V6 (200kW) still stands on the base Staria petrol. 2,500kg braked tow rating carries over. A 160kW Staria Load EV is due later in 2026 to chase the Kia PV5 Cargo and Ford E-Transit Custom. ANCAP rating is still 5-star for now with a retest under way as the current certificate nears expiry. Five year unlimited-km vehicle warranty, 8yr/160,000km hybrid battery warranty.

Honda Civic Type R Orders Reopen: 98 Cars for Australia at $85,000 Driveaway, Carbon Wing Left Off

Honda Australia reopens Civic Type R order books today at midday with just 98 cars for the entire country at $85,000 driveaway, the same figure as the February batch but without the carbon-fibre rear wing that ran as a $5,300 option and then a standard fitment on earlier allocations. A $5,000 refundable deposit locks a build slot, first customer deliveries in December 2026. Mechanicals unchanged: 235kW/420Nm 2.0L VTEC turbo, six-speed manual with rev-matching, helical LSD, front-wheel drive. Honda has been running roughly 80 Type R deliveries a month and the August 2025 batch cleared inside an hour, so 98 cars is a rounding error against national demand. Cross-shop against the Toyota GR Yaris GTS Aero at ~$72k driveaway, Hyundai i30 N Premium at ~$58k, VW Golf R at ~$77k and Subaru WRX tS at ~$63k. ANCAP not yet rated on the FL5 body.

Hyundai Ioniq 9 Powers Australia's First Approved V2G Discharge: What It Means for Ioniq 5, 6 and 9 Owners

Hyundai Motor Company Australia announced on 18 June 2026 that it had completed the country's first standards-compliant V2G discharge under ISO 15118-20. The car was a $119,750 Ioniq 9 Calligraphy AWD, the hardware was a 7.4kW StarCharge Halo bidirectional DC charger (CEC approved March 2026, meets AS/NZS 4777.2). Same protocol pathway lined up for the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6. 110.3kWh battery, 800V E-GMP, 314kW/700Nm AWD, up to 600km WLTP, 350kW peak DC. ANCAP not yet rated. Why this resets the V2G case against Tesla and AGL's 2026 trial shortlist.
