The 2026 Suzuki Swift GL is a lightweight, fuel-efficient city hatchback that suits budget-conscious buyers and first-time car owners, offering practicality with its 267-litre boot and five seats in a nimble 950kg package. Its standout strength is exceptional fuel economy at just 4.6L/100km, delivering genuinely low running costs around $2,039 annually, while the mild-hybrid petrol engine provides adequate everyday performance with 61kW and 112Nm. The key consideration is its 3-star ANCAP safety rating, which is respectable but trails newer rivals achieving five stars, so safety-conscious buyers should compare against the latest generation competitors.

The Suzuki Swift Sport is a turbocharged hot-hatch variant of the Swift that isn't in our database at all -- we've only carried the regular GL/GLX Swift. It uses a 1.4L Boosterjet turbo petrol engine (103kW/230Nm) through a 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters, priced from $34,990 drive away (Suzuki quotes no RRP). Standard equipment includes 17-inch alloy wheels, LED projector headlights, a leather-trimmed sports steering wheel, blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, and a bodykit with rear spoiler. It is a carryover of the older Swift Sport rather than a version of the new-generation Swift Hybrid sold alongside it -- Suzuki's own spec sheets show a different engine, length and height, and a different safety-assist package. We show no ANCAP rating for it: ANCAP's current Suzuki Swift record covers the new UZ-series car, not this one.

The 2026 Suzuki Swift GLX Turbo is a compact, fuel-efficient hatchback ideal for city drivers and first-time buyers seeking affordable motoring with a 1-litre turbocharged petrol engine delivering 82kW and 160Nm of torque. Its standout strength is exceptional fuel economy at 4.6L/100km, translating to roughly $2039 annually in running costs, making it one of the most economical options in its class. The main consideration is its 3-star ANCAP safety rating, which is below the 3-star standard now common among rivals, so safety-conscious buyers should factor this into their decision.
