LDV has put a diesel back in the D90, and it is the one Australians will actually care about: a 2.5-litre turbo with 163kW and 520Nm, rated to tow 3,500kg. That last number is the point. A seven-seat body-on-frame wagon that pulls a 3.5-tonne van is the job the Everest, Prado and MU-X get bought for, and the D90 diesel turns up with a drive-away price that starts with a five. There are two grades, both four-wheel drive: the Executive Diesel and a new Luxe.

Pricing

LDV prices the D90 drive-away. These are the figures on LDV's own price guide, with ABN-holder prices shown separately because that's how LDV prints them.

Time-limited offer: LDV's offer prices apply to new stock with no added options, purchased and delivered between 1 and 31 October 2026 at participating dealers, while stock lasts, and not to fleet, government or rental buyers. LDV says it may vary, extend or withdraw the offer. Petrol standard drive-away figures are those held in our directory from LDV's price list; LDV's page currently shows the petrol D90 at its October offer prices.

What You Get

LDV calls the D90 a true seven-seater, with 343 litres of luggage space behind the third row and 1,350 litres with it folded. Across the range there's a 12.3-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a colour driver's display, multi-zone climate with second-row vents and controls, adaptive cruise (LDV notes it doesn't operate when towing), lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert. Executive and Luxe add an electric tailgate, powered driver's seat, heated steering wheel, sunroof and dual wireless phone chargers. LDV lists a differential lock with its All-Terrain System on the D90 range.

The Luxe is where the diesel gets fancy: a large panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats with massage, a 360-degree camera, and 10 speakers instead of eight. LDV hasn't published a fuel consumption figure for the diesel D90 on its site that we could read, so we're leaving that blank rather than borrowing the ute's.

Our Take: Cheap Is Real, but Read the Small Print on the Comparison

We ran the obvious question against our directory: of the cars on sale with seven or more seats, a diesel engine, four- or all-wheel drive and a 3,500kg braked tow rating, which costs least? The honest answer comes in two parts, because some makers print drive-away prices and others print list prices before on-road costs, and you can't rank those against each other cleanly.

CarSeatsPrice
Priced drive-away
LDV D90 Executive Diesel 4WD7$54,200 ($49,700 on the October offer)
GWM Tank 500 3.0L Turbo-Diesel8$65,990
Ford Everest Sport 2.0L 4x4 (MY27)7$70,000
Priced before on-road costs
KGM Rexton ELX7$50,000 + on-roads
Isuzu MU-X LS-M 2.2L 4x47$55,900 + on-roads
Ford Everest Sport7$68,990 + on-roads
Toyota Prado GXL Diesel 7-seat7$79,990 + on-roads

Query run 8 October 2026 on on-sale cars in our directory with seven or more seats, diesel, 4WD or AWD and a 3,500kg braked tow rating: 41 matches, the cheapest of each pricing type shown plus the Everest and Prado. The D90 diesel rows are being added to the directory now and are counted here from LDV's price guide. Left out: one Everest Wildtrak V6 row with no towing figure on record, and Range Rover, Lexus LX and three MY27 Everest V6 rows with no price on record. Rexton and MU-X list prices are as held in our directory and exclude on-road costs.

So here's the straight version. Among the cars that publish a drive-away price, the D90 diesel is the cheapest seven-seat diesel 4WD rated to tow 3,500kg in our directory, and by a long way: $11,790 under the Tank 500 at full price. Against cars priced before on-road costs, it's closer than it looks. The Rexton ELX lists at $50,000 and the MU-X LS-M 2.2 at $55,900, and both still need registration, stamp duty and dealer delivery on top, which vary by state. On LDV's October offer, the Executive Diesel at $49,700 drive-away sits under the Rexton's list price before a single on-road cost is added. At full price, it's a closer fight, and you'll need a state-by-state quote to call it.

What we can't tell you yet is how thirsty it is, because LDV hasn't printed the diesel's fuel figure where we could read it, and there's no ANCAP rating on record for the D90 in our directory. Those two gaps matter more for a family tow car than the last $1,000 of price. If you're cross-shopping, put the tow rating, the payload you'll actually carry with seven people on board, and the official fuel figure side by side before the sticker.
