BYD Atto 3 EVO Priced for Australia: From $41,990, With 800V Charging on the Premium

Update, 1 October 2026: BYD Australia has priced the Atto 3 EVO and opened orders. The range is two grades: the front-drive Dynamic at $41,990 and the rear-drive Premium at $46,990, both before on-road costs in BYD's online configurator. BYD confirms the Premium's 800V platform, DC charging of up to 220kW, 74.88kWh battery, 230kW and 510km of WLTP range. The Dynamic stays on 400V with up to 110kW DC charging and 420km. The dual-motor all-wheel-drive version sold overseas is not in the Australian range.

BYD's long-running compact electric SUV has had its biggest change yet, and it now has Australian prices. When we first wrote about the Atto 3 EVO in July, BYD Australia had opened registrations of interest but published no numbers. The numbers are now on BYD Australia's own page, and the car can be ordered through its configurator.

That matters, because the Atto 3 had been running on much the same formula since its 2022 Australian launch, while newer rivals such as the Geely EX5 and Kia EV5 arrived in the same part of the market. The EVO is BYD's answer.

Australian pricing

Prices are as listed in BYD Australia's online configurator, which adds on-road costs on top once you enter a postcode. The Atto 3 Essential is still listed alongside the EVO at $39,990 before on-road costs, and Australian outlets report it is in run-out. Those same outlets reported first EVO deliveries starting in September 2026.

Specifications by grade

The headline is still 800 volts, but only on the Premium. BYD says the e-Platform 3.0 EVO moves up from the original car's 400V, and that this is what lets the Premium charge at up to 220kW on a compatible DC charger. The Dynamic keeps the front-drive layout and a 400V system, with DC charging listed at up to 110kW. Both grades measure 4,455mm long, 1,875mm wide and 1,615mm tall on a 2,720mm wheelbase.

What else changes

• Sharper styling with BYD's latest front-end design and a full-width daytime running light signature
• An updated 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen and a larger 8.8-inch digital driver's display
• The gear selector moved to the steering column, freeing up the centre console for storage
• Redesigned dashboard and door panels, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a digital key through the BYD app
• Adaptive cruise control, lane keeping, autonomous emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert with braking, blind-spot detection and 360-degree cameras listed by BYD
• Warranty of 6 years or 150,000km on the vehicle and 8 years or 160,000km on the traction battery, per BYD Australia

Why it matters

The Atto 3 built BYD's Australian reputation on value rather than the latest tech. The EVO changes that, at least for the Premium: 800V charging and 510km of WLTP range for $46,990 before on-road costs puts it straight into the conversation with Geely, Kia and the wave of newer Chinese brands crowding the segment. The Dynamic does the more familiar Atto 3 job, with a bigger battery than the Essential (60.48kWh against 49.92kWh) for $2,000 more.
