Key Takeaways
- Exeed, Chery's premium brand, is headed for Australia under the name Exlantix, according to its international CEO Lilian Xiong
- The launch pair: the ES GT shooting brake and an updated ET large SUV, in 2027 (first half of 2027 per CarExpert, mid-2027 per Drive, Chasing Cars and GoAuto)
- The target is Zeekr, with Denza also in the frame
- No price, and electric versus hybrid is still open for each model
- Chery Australia hasn't published anything on Exlantix that we could find

If you've been eyeing a Zeekr 7X or waiting on the Zeekr 7GT wagon, another option is lining up for 2027. Chery's premium brand, sold overseas as Exeed, is coming here as Exlantix, and its international boss says Zeekr is the brand it's aiming at. The opening pair is a fast wagon and a large SUV, which Chasing Cars lines up against Zeekr's own 7GT and 7X.
The news came from Lilian Xiong, CEO of Exeed and Exlantix International, who spoke to Australian media at a presentation in Shanghai in mid-October. She's an international executive rather than a local one, and we couldn't find a Chery Australia release on Exlantix on 23 October. So everything Australian below is what Xiong said or what an outlet reported, with the outlet named.
What Has Been Said About Australia
| Item | As reported |
|---|---|
| Brand name here | Exlantix (Exeed elsewhere) |
| Timing | First half of 2027 (CarExpert); mid-2027 (Drive, Chasing Cars, GoAuto) |
| Launch models | ES GT shooting brake, updated ET SUV (CarExpert, Chasing Cars, Drive, GoAuto) |
| Powertrains | Electric and hybrid planned, per-model mix not confirmed |
| Run by | Chery directly (CarExpert) |
| Price | Not announced |
On the name, Xiong told CarExpert the company couldn't register Exeed in some markets, Australia among them, so it will use Exlantix, the label its electrified cars already wear overseas. "It is one brand," she said. She didn't name the trade mark in the way. Chasing Cars puts it down to Mitsubishi. CarExpert notes that Mitsubishi uses Exceed as a grade name here and that Kia sells an XCeed in Europe. Drive adds that it's unclear whether the ES GT will face a trade mark issue here because of the Lexus ES sedan.
On rivals, Xiong pointed Drive to Zeekr on price and positioning, and broadly agreed with CarExpert that Zeekr and Denza are the right comparison, adding that the exact pitch depends on pricing. "We want to put New Energy vehicles into Australia," she told Chasing Cars.
The ES GT: a Shooting Brake With Over 400kW Overseas
The ES GT is a long-roof version of the Exlantix ES sedan. Exeed's own release from its November 2025 debut at the Guangzhou motor show describes a four-wheel-drive, three-motor system making more than 400kW, CDC adaptive damping with air suspension, a 4/2/4 split-folding rear seat and an electric tow hook. Exeed built it with Europe in mind and plans to launch it there in 2027. Those are overseas details, not Australian specifications.
What powers the Australian car is the open question. Drive reports it as a plug-in hybrid, The Driven expects an electric version plus a plug-in hybrid, and CarExpert says each model's powertrain is still to be confirmed.
The ET: an Updated Large SUV
GoAuto and Drive report the ET shown in Shanghai is an updated version of an SUV already sold overseas. Exeed's 20 October release lists the overseas ET 2027 in battery-electric and range-extender form (a petrol engine that charges the battery rather than driving the wheels). For Australia, GoAuto reports electric and range-extender versions are planned but not necessarily both for each model, while CarExpert reports electric and plug-in hybrid.
GoAuto reports the ET as a five-seater, 4,988mm long on a 3,000mm wheelbase. That's about 200mm longer than the 4,787mm we list for the Zeekr 7X. Chasing Cars names the 7X and the Zeekr 8X among its rivals.
Where Exlantix Would Sit
Here's the Zeekr end of the market today, from the prices Zeekr publishes:
| Model | Power | Price (RRP, before on-roads) |
|---|---|---|
| Electric | ||
| Zeekr 7X RWD | 310kW | $57,900 |
| Zeekr 7X Performance AWD | 475kW | $72,900 |
| Zeekr 7GT (wagon) | 310kW to 475kW | Coming soon, no price |
| Exlantix ES GT and ET: price not announced | ||
Current price on CarSorted: Zeekr 7X RWD $57,900 RRP, as at 15 Oct 2026; Zeekr 7X Performance AWD $72,900 RRP, as at 15 Oct 2026.
As at 23 October 2026. 7X prices are from Zeekr's Australian configurator, checked 15 October 2026. The 7GT figures are the ones we hold for its coming-soon listing.
The wagon fight is still to come. Our Zeekr 7GT and Denza Z9GT listings are both coming soon with no Australian price, so the wagon comparison has to wait until somebody prints a number.
Zeekr is the brand Xiong named as a rival, and the 7X is priced and on sale now.
Safety
ANCAP: no data. ANCAP hasn't published a rating for any Exlantix, and we won't show one until it does.
What This Means for Buyers
If you're buying a premium electric SUV in the next few months, nothing changes. There's no price, no confirmed powertrain, no warranty and no ANCAP result, and the timing is a reported half-year. The Zeekr 7X is priced and on sale, and our range estimator shows what its WLTP figure looks like at highway speed.
If a fast wagon appeals and you can wait until 2027, the ES GT is worth tracking alongside the 7GT and Z9GT. Just remember a brand-new badge has no resale track record yet, so run whatever you shortlist through our depreciation calculator before you commit. When Chery publishes an Australian price, we'll add it with the document it came from.
Disclaimer: Exlantix's plans for Australia are Lilian Xiong's comments to Australian media in Shanghai in October 2026, as reported by CarExpert, Chasing Cars, Drive, The Driven, Torque Cafe and GoAuto between 18 and 21 October 2026. Xiong is an international executive; we could not find a Chery Australia release on Exlantix on 23 October 2026. The timing, powertrain expectations, the trade mark explanation, the Lexus ES naming question and the ET dimensions are as reported by the outlets named. The ET seating and dimensions are as reported by GoAuto. The ES GT outputs and equipment and the ET 2027 powertrain types are from EXEED International releases of November 2025 and 20 October 2026 and describe overseas cars, not Australian specifications. Zeekr prices are RRP before on-road costs from Zeekr's Australian configurator as held in our directory. We hold no ANCAP rating for any Exlantix and none is implied. Confirm price, specification, safety rating and availability with Chery once Exlantix launches here.
