The IONIQ 5 N is Hyundai's first proper electric performance car, turning the regular IONIQ 5 into something genuinely wild. Its dual motors make 448kW and 740Nm, and hitting the N Grin Boost button unlocks 478kW and 770Nm for a claimed 3.4-second 0-100km/h sprint. The 84kWh battery is good for a 448km WLTP range, and the 800-volt system can DC fast-charge from 10 to 80 per cent in about 18 minutes. What makes it special is the track tech: a simulated gearshift feel, synthesised engine sounds, a drift mode, launch control, adaptive dampers and big brakes. Priced from $115,000 before on-road costs, it is a low-volume halo car that lines up against the Tesla Model 3 Performance. Figures here are from Hyundai Australia's spec sheet, not a road test.

2027 Genesis GV60 Magma Priced for Australia: $130,000, 478kW and a 3.4-Second 0-100

Genesis Australia locks in the GV60 Magma sticker. $130,000 before on-roads for a dual-motor AWD twin-under-the-skin of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N. Same 84kWh pack, same 448kW/700Nm normal or 478kW/790Nm Boost Mode outputs, same 3.4-second 0 to 100km/h, but wrapped in a Magma-only front bumper, forged 21-inch wheels on 275mm Pirelli P Zeros, a fixed rear wing, Magma Orange hero paint and Genesis' 27-inch curved display with a three-circle Magma driving mode. 800V charging peaks around 350kW, 10 to 80 per cent in about 18 minutes. WLTP range not yet finalised, ANCAP not yet rated. Matte paint is the only priced option at $4,000. Warranty is 5 years unlimited-km with 5 years or 75,000km of free scheduled servicing and 10 years of roadside. That is a $19,000 walk over the Ioniq 5 N for the same peak numbers and $26,100 over a Tesla Model Y Performance for a matching 3.4-second window. Orders open now.

2026 Hyundai Staria Hybrid Priced for Australia: Lounge People Mover $73,740, Load Van From $53,490

Hyundai locks in MY26 Staria pricing with a first-ever hybrid across the passenger and Load van ranges. Staria Lounge Hybrid $73,740, Load Hybrid $53,490 and Load Premium Hybrid $61,240, all before on-roads. New 1.6L turbo-petrol hybrid pushes 180kW/366Nm combined through a six-speed auto to the front wheels, so the AWD lever stays on the retained 2.2L turbo-diesel. Passenger range simplified: Elite and Highlander shelved, Lounge takes over the top with seven Nappa captain-chair seats. Retained 3.5L V6 (200kW) still stands on the base Staria petrol. 2,500kg braked tow rating carries over. A 160kW Staria Load EV is due later in 2026 to chase the Kia PV5 Cargo and Ford E-Transit Custom. ANCAP rating is still 5-star for now with a retest under way as the current certificate nears expiry. Five year unlimited-km vehicle warranty, 8yr/160,000km hybrid battery warranty.

Honda Civic Type R Orders Reopen: 98 Cars for Australia at $85,000 Driveaway, Carbon Wing Left Off

Honda Australia reopens Civic Type R order books today at midday with just 98 cars for the entire country at $85,000 driveaway, the same figure as the February batch but without the carbon-fibre rear wing that ran as a $5,300 option and then a standard fitment on earlier allocations. A $5,000 refundable deposit locks a build slot, first customer deliveries in December 2026. Mechanicals unchanged: 235kW/420Nm 2.0L VTEC turbo, six-speed manual with rev-matching, helical LSD, front-wheel drive. Honda has been running roughly 80 Type R deliveries a month and the August 2025 batch cleared inside an hour, so 98 cars is a rounding error against national demand. Cross-shop against the Toyota GR Yaris GTS Aero at ~$72k driveaway, Hyundai i30 N Premium at ~$58k, VW Golf R at ~$77k and Subaru WRX tS at ~$63k. ANCAP not yet rated on the FL5 body.
