Lexus has a big electric SUV on the way. Lexus Australia has confirmed the TZ, a three-row battery-electric luxury SUV, for an Australian launch in 2027, and it's using the Melbourne Cup Carnival to show it off.

The TZ is on display in the LANDMARK by Lexus pavilion in the Birdcage Enclosure at Flemington for the whole Carnival. Parked next to it is the RZ 600e F SPORT Performance, the limited-run RZ that Lexus says arrives in late 2026, with just nine cars for Australia.

What Lexus Australia Has Said About the TZ

Not a lot yet, and that's worth being upfront about. Lexus Australia describes the TZ as a three-row luxury SUV "built around the luxury of choice", with the flexibility to prioritise passenger space, carrying capacity or extra seating depending on the day. The idea behind it is what Lexus calls a "driving lounge", meant to give each passenger "the same sense of comfort and connection".

Lexus Australia Chief Executive Jack Hobbs put it this way: "One expands luxury through space and versatility; the other pushes the boundaries of thrilling performance." The TZ is the space half of that sentence.

What Lexus Australia hasn't said: a price, the grades, how many seats each version gets, the battery, the range or any Australian specification. Our TZ listing carries the confirmation and the 2027 timing, and nothing more until Lexus publishes it.

The Global Numbers, Labelled as Global

When the TZ was unveiled in May, Lexus put a specification table on its Australian pressroom. It's headed "Prototype values", and the footnotes say figures vary by region and specification and are preliminary values under development. So read these as a sketch of the car, not as the TZ you'll be able to buy here.

Global prototype figureLexus TZ

None of those figures is in our directory. They'll go in when Lexus Australia publishes Australian ones.

The Nine-Car RZ 600e Beside It

The RZ 600e F SPORT Performance is the opposite brief. Lexus says it builds on the RZ range with more downforce, a sports suspension lowered by 20mm, unique 21-inch wheels and an optional Hakugin white matte two-tone paint. It also gets a yoke steering wheel with steer-by-wire.

Lexus Australia lists it from $135,000, a Manufacturer's List Price that excludes on-road costs, and notes that final pricing and specifications are subject to confirmation. Nine are coming here. Before Flemington, it made its public debut at PAX Aus at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from 9 to 11 October.

Our Take

A three-row electric Lexus is the one of the pair families will care about. It's also the one we know least about in Australian terms. Until Lexus Australia puts a price and a spec sheet out, any number you see for an Australian TZ is someone's estimate, and we'd treat it that way.

If you're at the Carnival, it's a chance to sit in it before anyone can order one. If you're shopping now, the Lexus range in our directory is where the priced cars are.

Safety

ANCAP: no data. ANCAP hasn't published a rating for the TZ or the RZ 600e F SPORT Performance.

Disclaimer: Timing, display details and the RZ 600e F SPORT Performance price are from Lexus Australia media releases dated 8 and 9 October 2026. The $135,000 figure is a Manufacturer's List Price excluding on-road costs, and Lexus says final pricing and specifications are subject to confirmation. TZ figures in the table are global prototype values from Lexus's May 2026 release, which says they vary by region and are preliminary; they are not Australian specifications. Lexus Australia had not published a TZ price as at 14 October 2026.
