XPeng's new large SUV is a step closer. The G9L now sits in the Models menu of XPeng's Australian website, next to the cars already on sale, and it has its own page inviting you to "Get Early Access to the XPENG G9L".

That page doesn't say much yet. XPeng pitches it as "the New Intelligent Class" with three headlines: "AI-Driven Technology", "New-Era Luxury" and "One Car, Two Powertrain Options". The small print reads: "Specifications and features are subject to confirmation for Australia. Images are indicative only."

What XPeng Australia Hasn't Said

Price, timing, which two powertrains, seat count, battery size and range. None of it is on XPeng's Australian site yet, so none of it is in our G9L listing either.

What's Been Reported

Other outlets have more, and we're passing it on clearly labelled because XPeng Australia hasn't printed any of it. Drive reports the G9L has seven seats across three rows, that orders open in the coming weeks and that first deliveries are expected around January or February 2027. CarExpert reports it goes on sale next month, with both electric and extended-range electric versions, and says XPeng is yet to confirm full Australian specs.

CarExpert also reports figures XPeng has released for the extended-range version: a 63kWh LFP battery, a claimed 287km of WLTP electric range, up to 1,200km combined, and 430kW. Drive reports XPeng is targeting roughly $75,000 to $90,000. Treat those figures as reported until XPeng Australia confirms it.

Where It Would Sit

XPeng already sells the X9 people mover and the G6 mid-size SUV here. A big three-row SUV would put the G9L up against the Kia EV9 and BYD Sealion 8. For what's on sale now, see our seven-seat electric car guide and the XPeng range.

Our Take

An early-access page is a real step, but it isn't a launch. The reported price window is the number to watch, because it decides whether the G9L sits inside the electric-car FBT exemption for novated leases. We'll fill in the G9L listing as soon as XPeng Australia publishes prices and specs.

Safety

ANCAP: no data. ANCAP hasn't published a rating for the G9L.

Disclaimer: Confirmed details are from XPeng Australia's website as fetched on 14 October 2026. Seats, timing, price and powertrain figures are as reported by Drive and CarExpert on 13 October 2026; XPeng Australia had not published them as at 14 October 2026.
